This month, the Kris Lindahl Team salutes Normandale Hills Elementary School, located in West Bloomington. The school serves slightly more than 500 students in grades K through 5 with 35 full-time teachers. There are about 14 students for every teacher at the school, ranking eighth in the district in student-teacher ratios.
Aside from the school’s core curriculum, it offers:

Extracurricular activities at Normandale include, Before the Bell, Channel 70 News, NHKids Safety Patrol, Lunchroom Helpers, Office Helpers, Junior Knights and Flag Patrols.
Rankings and Test Scores
School ratings website GreatSchools.org awards Normandale Elementary 8 out of 10 stars while SchoolDigger.com gives it 3 out of 5 and ranks it 390 of 820 public elementary schools in the state.
In 2015, 72.1 percent of Normandale Hills 4th grade students met or exceeded state standards on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment-III (MCA-III) math exams, beating both the district’s average of 68 percent and the state’s (70 percent). These same students outscored the district (59.4 percent) and the state (57.9 percent) with 64.6 percent meeting or exceeding the standards.
