Sure, it’s over a week away, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start thinking about how you’ll spend Valentine’s Day this year. If you’re short on ideas but long on wanting to show your love, here are a few ideas.

A Valentine’s Day Staycation

Bloomington is home to 38 hotels – how many have you stayed in? Valentine’s Day weekend might be the best time for a staycation, whether you choose one of the city’s budget hotels or go for the elegance.

Radisson Blu at Mall of America has a Valentine’s Day special this year and it includes breakfast in bed, champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. Rooms start at $195 that night. They also offer a spa package for a step-up in price that includes two 1-hour massages.

If you’ll be bringing the kids along on your romantic staycation, check out the Family Bed & Breakfast Package at Bloomington’s Park Plaza Hotel. The package includes complimentary breakfast for Mom, Dad and two kiddos. After that, let the kids enjoy the indoor pool while the two of you hang out in the whirlpool. Or take the free shuttle to the Mall of America and shop.

Wine & Dine

The Bloomington Chophouse at the Hilton offers an amazing menu every Saturday night. They call it the Date Night menu and it offers three courses, plus a bottle from their Date Night wine selection. Make reservations by calling 952-830-5200.

If you decide to do the staycation, how about Sunday brunch the day after? If that sounds good, head to Kincaid’s. You’ll need a reservation, though, so call them at 952-921-2255.

Laugh it Up

If laughter can be sexy you’ll be the king or queen of sexy if you spend Valentine’s Day evening in a comedy club. The Joke Joint in St. Paul is promising a “Special Event” that night but they are pretty tight lipped with the details. Find out by showing up at 801 Sibley Memorial Highway.

Acme Comedy Company in Minneapolis is featuring Mike Lukas on February 14th. Featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and other national TV shows, Lukas also hits the road with The Second City National Touring Company.

Show times at Acme are 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The club is located in Minneapolis’ North Loop at 708 N 1st Street.
