What’s Happening in Bloomington?

There is lots happening in Bloomington and we’ve chosen some of the news stories and events we think you’ll be most interested in. Oh, by the way, we’re just as tired of the story as you are, so we promise this is a Cecil-the-lion-free zone.

So, you want to be a TV Star

Think maybe you’re cut out to be a survivor? If so, you’ll want to be at the Mall of America Rotunda for the casting of the CBS TV show “Survivor” this Saturday.

You must be a United States citizen and at least 18 years or older to be considered.  You’ll be given 60 seconds to tell the casting folks why you should be on the show so prepare your schtick now. The event starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 15.

Oh, before you go, download the release forms. You can find a link to them here.

Attention Home Schoolers

If you plan on homeschooling your Bloomington student during the upcoming school year you’ll need to do several things to keep the process on the up and up. First, contact Bloomington Public Schools to let them know that you’ll be schooling your child at home. This isn’t just a courtesy, it’s a requirement of the Minnesota Compulsory Instruction law.

Then, you will need to file a form called the Non-Public Schools Full Report. You can download one here. It must be submitted by October 1. If you need more information about homeschooling your child and other requirements, visit the school district’s website.

Back to Football

Vikings Football is BACK ― well, soon anyway. Head to the MOA to have your photo taken with the amazing Vikings Cheerleaders, play games to win prizes and meet some of the players. You can also register for the TCO Vikings 5k, which is coming up on August 29 in Eden Prairie.

If you want to attend the autograph signings, stop by the Vikings Looker Room store at 3:00 p.m. to pick up a wristband. There’s no purchase necessary.  The event happens from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27.
